You’re gonna love this green tea shooter! This sweet-sour whiskey drink is a popular cocktail that’s so good, it’ll make home mixologists feel like professional bartenders.

This sweet shot is full of peach flavor, making it the go to cocktail recipe for a hot summer day. Additionally, you can also turn it into a green tea cocktail by adding a little extra lemon-lime soda (details below).

Save these tasty green tea shots for parties, a quick pre-game, or game night – everyone will love them!

What is a green tea shot?

Jameson Whiskey Company invented a simple whiskey shot called the green tea shot, which comprises Jameson Irish Whiskey, Peach Schnapps, Sour Mix, and a splash of Lemon Lime Soda.

The name comes from the greenish color of the drink as it resembles green tea. Spoiler: there’s no actual green tea in this shot.

Green Tea Shot Ingredients

the ingredients used to make green tea shots - whiskey, peach schnapps, lemon lime soda, and sweet and sour mix.

Jameson Irish Whiskey: Irish whiskey is made from barley and has a lighter, smoother flavor compared to American whiskey. However, you can use any popular whiskey you’d like!

Peach Schnapps: Peach Schnapps is a peach liqueur (and my favorite ingredient) – it’s what gives these shots their “umph” with all of that peachy flavor. SO good.

Sweet and Sour Mix: the sweet and sour mix really works well with the peach liqueur and balances out the sweet flavor with a little tangy sour flavor.

Don’t have any sweet and sour mix? Use lemonade instead – or make your own by combining 1/2 lime (fresh lime juice), a 1/2 of a lemon (fresh lemon juice), and a 1 ounce of simple syrup or sugar.

Lemon-Lime Soda: I used a splash of sprite. It adds a bit of sweetness and a bit of fizz  that’s really refreshing.

Pro tip: If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can use a mason jar or any larger glass with a lid.

How to make Green Tea Shots

  1. Combine the 2 ounces of whiskey, 2 ounces of peach schnapps, 2 ounces of sour mix, and. a splash of lemon-lime soda (for extra sweetness) in a shaker cup. Add ice cubes. (Image 1)
  2. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds, pour into 4 shot glasses, and serve. Garnish with a lime slice and enjoy! (Image 2)

Tips

  • This shot is best served cold. I recommend refrigerating the ingredients beforehand or freezing each shot glass for 20 minutes.
  • Cut down on the sugar by using diet lemon lime soda or sugar free lemonade instead.
  • To enjoy this drink as a single shot, use a 1/2 ounce of each of the ingredients.

  • If you’re looking to cut down on the sugar, use diet lemon lime soda or sugar free lemonade instead.
  • To enjoy this drink as a single shot, use a 1/2 ounce of each of the ingredients.

  • You can use any popular whiskey you’d like, it doesn’t have to be Jameson, American whiskey works too!
