If you've tried my original green tea shot recipe, you're going to LOVE these! They're a rendition of the popular shots but with a peachy twist - making it so refreshing and smooth.

These shots are one of my favorite new recipes. It's only three ingredients and total time to make? Maybe 3 minutes prep time. It's quick and has the best flavors - peach, citrus, and a smooth vodka to round it all out.

These shots are the perfect party starters and can easily be turned into a cocktail for sitting back and sipping with friends! You can even make a large batch and enjoy them anytime you'd like! Let's grab our ingredients and let the good times roll!

What's a white tea shot?

This simple white tea shot recipe is quite similar to the green tea shot, except - you guessed it - it's white! It's the vodka version of the green tea shot and only has three ingredients - peach schnapps, vodka, and sour mix.

As I mentioned in the green tea shot, the color doesn't come from the actual green tea, it comes from the color of the shot itself. The same applies here.

What do white tea shots taste like?

They're fruity, sweet, and tangy. The peach schnapps is what gives them their sweet and fruity flavor while the sour mix adds a little citrus from the lemon and lime juices. It has a subtly sweet flavor with hints of citrus.

Is white tea used in a white tea shot?

There's no actual white tea bags used for the recipe, it gets it's name because it's white/clear in color! It's safe to say that you can put your loose leaf tea aside, no need for it here!

So why is it called a white tea shot if not tea is used? Well, it's modeled after the green tea shot which gets it's name from Jameson whiskey company for it's green color. So this is basically the vodka version of that shot which doesn't have any tea in it either.

Ingredients

If you can recall, I used Jameson irish whiskey in the classic green tea shot. For the white tea shot, we're using vodka! It's a mix of equal parts peach schnapps, sour mix, and vodka all added to a cocktail shaker for a super refreshing alcoholic drink. Pour into your favorite shot glasses and throw it on back!

  • 1.5 oz Peach Schnapps: this is what gives the shot a fruity flavor. The sweet taste really balances the shot without giving it an overpowering flavor.
  • 1.5 oz Vodka: using a smooth triple distilled vodka is best!
  • 1.5 oz Sweet and Sour Mix: this adds a nice touch of citrusy flavor, however if you don't have any, you can use lemon-lime soda for a fizzy drink.

Mixing Tools

While you don't need any fancy bar equipment or bartending tools, I do recommend using a cocktail shaker (one with a strainer) to mix the ingredients. It's the easiest way to make the perfect shots!

You'll also need a jigger to measure the ingredients. It just makes it easier. Totally not needed but highly recommended! You can use a shot glass or even a tablespoon to measure each ingredient.

Lastly, I feel like this goes without say, but you'll need a standard shot glass too. If you're making the cocktail version, a tall glass works.

How to make a White Tea Shot

What makes this one of the best white tea shot recipes is that it's only three main ingredients, is easily customizable, and it's so easy to make.

  • Add vodka, peach schnapps, and sour mix to a cocktail shaker.
  • Add a few ice cubes, give it a good shake for 10-15 seconds, and pour into shot glasses.

That's it! Garnish with lime wedges or a cute little lime slice if you want to be a little fancy 🙂

Substitutions

  • If you don't have sour mix, you can use fresh lime juice, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup or a splash of lemon lime soda. Both area great choice so use what you have on hand!
  • Don't have vodka? You can use white rum or tequila too!

Variations

There are so many different kinds of white tea shot recipes!

White Tea Shot with Tequila

If you love tequila, if tastes amazing as a white tea shot! Just swap out vodka for tequila, see below:

Ingredients (Makes 4)

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 2 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 2 oz Sour mix

Method

Add everything to a cocktail shaker with some ice cubes, shake, and pour into your shot glasses.

White Tea Shot with Rum

This rendition is a little different in that it actually includes white tea! Fun fact - white tea is one of the most delicate teas and is known for its fragrant taste. You can use many types of white tea. The best white teas are white peony, darker shou mei, silver needle, and tribute eyebrow. If using loose tea, I recommend using white peony tea leaves.

Ingredients (Makes 4)

  • 1.5 oz white rum
  • 2 ounces brewed white tea, cooled
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz lime juice

Method

Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for for 10 seconds and pour yourself an aromatic cup of this delicious drink!

White Tea Shot with Gin

This take on the white tea shot has to be my favorite. When you add gin to any drink, it adds a floral flavor to it and I just love how it compliments the white tea flavor. The flavor of the juniper berries from the gin paired with the flavor of the white tea is so fragrant and sensual! I've heard of people even adding a dash of black pepper to this drink to play up the subtle spiced notes of the gin, but it's not particularly my cup of tea (pun intended).

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Gin
  • 2 oz brewed white tea, cooled
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz lemon juice

Method

Same thing, Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for for 10 seconds and pour yourself an aromatic cup of this delicious drink!

Make it a Cocktail!

Turn these white tea shots into a cocktail by adding a little lemon soda or club soda. Full details are in the recipe card below.

Tips

  • Even though preparation time is literally minutes, if you want to make these shots ahead of time, do not add ice until just before serving.
  • Cold alcohol helps cut down on the alcohol taste (even though the alcohol content stays the same). No matter the types of alcohol, try refrigerating the alcohol prior to prepping the shots.
  • Make your own sweet and sour drink mix - store bought it great but homemade is even better! Here's a post on how to make your own sour mix!

Storage

Should you have any leftovers, place it in the refrigerator in a sealed airtight container. It'll last for at least a month.

FAQs

What's the difference between a green tea shot and a white tea shot?

For the green tea shot recipe, also known as a Jameson green tea, you use whiskey. Unlike the sweet-sour whiskey drink, for the white tea shot, you use vodka instead.

How does a white tea shot cost?

These shots tend to be on the most pricier side. They're about $8-$10 per shot at the bar. That's why I opt to make them myself!

Are white tea shots healthy?

There are no health benefits to drinking a white tea shot as there's no white tea used. If you'd like a healthy white, opt for a tea that includes a strongly brewed white peony tea, which is said to aid in weight loss and improve your immune system as with many types of tea. Be sure to do your research before trying something new.

Is There Actually Tea in a White Tea Shot?

Nope! No white tea leaves are used in this drink recipe.
