If you’re looking for something sweet to enjoy at a Bachelorette party, ladies night, happy hour, Valentine’s Day, even Girls night and birthdays – just make a batch of these!

What’s in a starburst shot
This pink starburst shot recipe is so easy to make with only a few simple ingredients! The main ingredients are:
- Kissed Caramel Vodka: The kissed caramel flavor adds a creamy and rich flavor to this starburst shot recipe. if you can’t find this, vanilla or whipped cream vodka works!
- Watermelon Pucker Schnapps: though pink starbursts are strawberry flavored, this watermelon flavor does the trick! It also gives these fun shots a pretty vibrant pink color and sweet fruity flavor! If you want a pink starburst shot without watermelon, you could also try using strawberry syrup instead as a fun way to dress it up.
- Sweet and Sour Mix: for a tangy burst of flavor.
- Heavy Cream – this ingredient is the game changer! It enhances that true pink starburst flavor and adds a nice creamy flavor to the starburst shot. You can’t get that true starburst taste without it!
Equipment
- shot glasses or cocktail glasses depending on how you want to serve these. I’d like to note because these are so smooth and silky, they also double as an exceptionally good cocktail for a pink starburst drink or a shooter cocktail.
- cocktail shaker with a strainer
- a jigger but it isn’t essential. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, simply add all of the ingredients to a large cup or pitcher and mix together. I also recommend adding this to a blender if you don’t have a cocktail shaker – it makes it extra smooth!

How to Make Starburst Shots
- (optional first step) If you’d like to do a sugared rim, dip the glass in honey or corn syrup and then place in sugar. I used pink sanding sugar for a fun color! Pro tip: You can also use vanilla frosting to dip the glass into to make this an extra sweet shot!

- Make the shots by pouring vodka, watermelon pucker, sweet and sour mix, and a splash of cream into a cocktail shaker.
- Add ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds, until creamy and frothy! Then pour mixture into a shot glass or cocktail glass and serve. Be sure to strain the ice! Total time needed to make these – 5 minutes. It’s incredible.

Garnish Ideas!
- Remove 3-4 pink starbursts from the wrapper and squeeze a little lime juice on top and dunk them in the pink sugar! It makes a nice tart sweet treat after throwing back the shot! Kinda reminds me of Tajin with fresh fruit.
- I added a couple mint leaves for a pretty garnish!
- You can also add strawberries on top or a few blackberries for a sweet and tart surprise.
- Cool whip is an exceptionally good garnish for an extra kick of creaminess!
Make these shots into a Pink Starburst Cocktail
This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to make the perfect cocktail. To make a large batch of this starburst drink, see the steps in the recipe card below!
All you have to do is add all of the ingredients to a large pitcher and give it a good stir. Then add to the refrigerator and allow it to cool until you’re ready to serve.
Pro Tips
Yes, this is a VERY easy recipe to make, however, there’s a couple tips that will take these shots from great to grand!
- If you are using a cocktail shaker, add ice cubes to the shaker cup and strain the starburst shots prior to serving. Do not serve with ice cubes because it will dilute the flavor as they melt.
- If you do not have a cocktail shaker, just place everything in a large cup and stir until everything is mixed and smooth! You can also use a mason jar too! Just add the ingredients, cover with a lid and shake. These pink shots will turn out delicious either way!
- If making ahead of time, omit the heavy cream. Add the heavy cream just before serving and be sure to mix thoroughly!
- For an intense pink color, add a drop of red food coloring. It’ll really pop!

FAQs
You can use tequila, rums like Malibu or cahaca (a Brazilian rum that’s delicious!). I don’t recommend using gin or whiskey as the flavors would be too strong.
If you’re looking for dairy free options or just don’t have any heavy cream on hand, you can use cream of coconut or half and half instead. You can use the same amount as listed in the recipe card, just be sure to shake/blend well.
You can easily turn this shot into a mocktail by swapping watermelon schnapps for a watermelon or strawberry syrup, then swap out vodka for a non-alcoholic version of vodka like Strykk, and then add the heavy cream and sweet and sour mix as per usual. Same proportions apply!

Pink Starburst Shots

Equipment
- Cocktail Shaker
- Jigger
- 4 Shot Glasses OR 2 cocktail glasses
Ingredients
- 1.5 ounces Kissed Caramel Vodka, or Vanilla Vodka
- 2 ounces Watermelon Pucker Schnapps
- 1.5 ounces Sweet and Sour Mix
- 1/2 ounce Heavy Cream
- 3 tbsps honey, optional for adding sugar rim to the glass
- 2 tbsps sanding sugar, optional for adding sugar rim to the glass
To make a large batch, makes one pitcher:
- 2 cup Kissed Caramel Vodka
- 2 1/2 cups Watermelon Pucker Schnapps
- 2 cups Sweet and Sour Mix
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
Instructions
- Dip the rim of the glasses in honey and then dip in pink sugar to garnish. (optional)
- Pour vodka, watermelon pucker schnapps, sweet and sour mix, heavy cream into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds.
- Pour into shot glasses or cocktail glasses and serve.
- Optional: Remove 3-4 pink starbursts from the wrapper and squeeze a little lime juice on top and drink them in the pink sugar! It makes a nice tart sweet treat after throwing back the shot!
To make a large batch
- When making a large batch, I recommend adding everything to a blender and blending for 30-40 seconds, until frothy and smooth. Due to the heavy cream, it can tend to separate so it's important to mix well before serving. Also, do not add ice until you are ready to serve.

I was planning a party so I figured I’ll try to make this to see if it would be good to serve…. Well I made it for my family, we loved much that I need to go back to the store for more liquor
These Shots were dope. You had me at the heavy cream part, I thought it was weird but it was actually really good and made them creamy. Thanks for the recipe.
of course, thank you!
These are so good! The pink one is my favorite and they taste just like them. I’m going to make these again for the 4th of july this weekend.
Yes, these are perfect for the 4th! Glad you liked them!
This is seriously the best drink I’ve ever made. And it was so pretty! I tried to make it look exactly like your photos, I came close and I’m proud of myself lol but a seriously amazing drink. I’m saving this one for ALL of my parties.
Yay! This is music to my ears!
Britney you did it again you never disappoint with a pretty cocktail. This drink was the talk of our party last weekend.
I’m so happy to hear that, thank you!
the heavy cream had me skeptical because it separated in the glass but when I shook it together in the shaker cup, it turned out so smooth. I would’ve never thought to add it but it made everything taste so creamy and like a real starburst. We really liked it, a new favorite!
the heavy cream does that when the ice is added, but once you shake it all up, everything comes together! I’m so happy that you enjoyed it!!
Best shots ever!! Better than the bartender at the club!!
Woohoo, so happy to hear this!
Loved these shots. Made them for my graduation party and everyone loved it. We made them in a big batch as a cocktail and it was so creamy and smooth just like you said. Great recipe!
So glad you and everyone enjoyed them! Thanks for the feedback!
Brit, you’ve done it again. Another home run recipe that we love. It was so pretty, I had to make. I guess it’s true, you really do eat with your eyes. Anyway, I made it and it was so smooth and tasty. It truly was just like eating candy. I can’t wait to make it again with my girlfriends, they’re gonna love it too.
I’m so happy that you tried this and enjoyed it! Thanks your leaving a review!
I was shocked at how good these came out. That addition of heavy cream did the trick. I’ve made recipes without it and while they’re good, they’re a little too tart. The heavy cream mellows it out. I made this in a blender like you said because I don’t have a shaker cup and it was so frothy and smooth. It was strong enough to enjoy as a shot and smooth enough as a cocktail. This recipe is genius, thank you!
Thank you so much!
