If you didn’t know, I’m from Philly which makes me a connoisseur of pork sandwiches and Philly Cheesesteaks.
There are a few mandatory traits a good pulled pork sandwich must have (let me know if you agree) – tender pork, good bread, a great sauce, and most of all – flavor! This pork slider recipe has all of the above and more.
These pork sliders are cooked low and slow in barbecue sauce until fork tender. This is an ideal cooking method especially when I’m prepping for parties because I can set it and forget it. The shredded pork is then sandwiched between hawaiian sweet rolls, topped with a creamy cajun coleslaw, pickles, and a little cheese for good measure.
These tasty sliders a great appetizer for parties (especially for Game Day), a delicious main dish for family dinners, and just awesome Slow Cooker recipe that’s good to have in your back pocket for special occasions.
Anyone who tries these will agree that these are the best pulled pork sliders ever. Try my barbecue chicken sliders and roast beef sliders next!

Ingredients

For the BBQ Pork Sliders, you’ll need:
- 3 lbs of Boneless Pork Shoulder or Pork Butt
- Seasonings: garlic powder, chili powder, smoked paprika, mustard powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper
- BBQ Sauce: Use your favorite BBQ sauce, mine is Sweet baby Rays’ BBQ sauce. It has a little sweetness that’s the perfect match for these tasty sliders. If you prefer, you can also make your own homemade bbq sauce if you have a favorite way of doing it!
- Chicken Broth: I add just a little chicken broth to the braising liquid for flavor. You can also use water.
- Hawaiian Slider Rolls – if you prefer sandwiches, you can use brioche buns for the same effect. If you like homemade rolls, make my Brioche dinner rolls and use that for the buns instead. It’s SO worth the effort.
- Dill Pickles – for a little salty briney flavor.
- White Cheddar Cheese – this is for an epic cheese pull when pulling the sliders apart. It’s so good.
Charred Corn Slaw:
- Frozen corn
- Coleslaw Mix
- Red Onion
- Mayo
- Dijon Mustard
- Sugar
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Celery Salt
Tips for making Sliders
- Make sure to drain off as much liquid from the coleslaw and pulled pork as possible prior to adding to the buns. This will prevent them from becoming soggy. I do the same thing with the sauerkraut in my reuben sliders, don’t skip this!
- Do not separate the sliders until everything is assembled. This makes it much easier to put everything together and saves time!
- These easy pulled pork sliders are best served fresh. If you’d like to make them in advance, prepare the meat, store in an airtight container until you’re ready to assemble the sliders.
How to make Pulled Pork Sliders

Cover with a lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until fork tender. Shred the meat with a fork and remove from the Crockpot™ Slow Cooker, draining off the liquid.
- While the meat is cooking, make the homemade coleslaw. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil to a skillet over medium high heat. Add corn and cook until browned. Remove from the heat and add to a large bowl. Allow it to cool, then add coleslaw mix, and diced red onion. In a separate small bowl, whisk together mayo, dijon mustard, sugar, apple cider, and celery salt and add to the corn slaw. Toss together until evenly distributed and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Once the meat is finished cooking, preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Cut slider buns in half with a serrated knife and place on a baking sheet. sprinkle white cheddar cheese. Place rolls on the top rack and melt cheese for about 5-10 minutes.
