What is Sriracha?

Sriracha is a Southeast Asian hot sauce made of chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt. It is spicy with a hint of tanginess. It goes well on noodles, eggs, rice, and even brussels sprouts!

Ingredients

ingredients to make honey sriracha brussels sprouts - brussels sprouts, bacon, thyme, butter, sriracha, honey, soy sauce, smoked paprika, pecans, parmesan, and lemon zest.

A few simple ingredients make such a delicious recipe!

  • Brussels sprouts: These are best enjoyed when they are in season, between September and February.
  • Salt and pepper: Just enough to taste.
  • Bacon: because bacon makes literally everything better.
  • Butter: Use salted butter for more flavor.
  • Garlic: Make sure it is finely diced. Garlic powder works here too!
  • Sriracha: the spiciness of the sriracha goes so well with the honey. This recipe calls for 3 tablespoon of sriracha. If you like extra spicy brussels sprouts, you can add more! Conversely, for milder flavor, add less.
  • Honey: the sweetness of the honey and sriracha is the perfect balance of flavor.
  • Soy sauce: Try to use a low sodium option so it is not too salty.
  • Smoked Paprika: for a little smoky flavor.
  • Parmesan Cheese: the nutty flavor of the parmesan goes SO well with this recipe. It's an absolute must.
  • Pecans: you may think I'm crazy but when I tell you pecans add a nice crunch and flavor to this recipe, you just have to try it. Don't skip this one!

  • Do not overcook the brussels sprouts, they'll develop a bitter taste and become soggy.
  • If you have especially small brussels sprouts in the bag, don't cut them in half. Conversely, larger sprouts can be cut into quarters.
  • Be sure to trim any browned outer leaves.
