chicken and rice on a plate with naan

Indian food is by far one of my favorite cuisines! This recipe is inspired by my favorite takeout dish – Butter Chicken! Butter Chicken has always had a special place in my heart.

Butter chicken with naan is such a delicious and easy meal to make! It’s the perfect meal for Friday nights when you don’t want to order out and just want a quick, home cooked meal. The flavors are so warm and remind me of kicking back and watching movies with my family. It’s the true epitome of comfort food.

What I love about this dish is how creamy it is. It’s interesting because I believe that the ingredients that make this dish so delicious is actually heavy cream and tomato paste as opposed to butter. When tomato paste and heavy cream come together with butter, chili powder, and garam masala – magic happens! It’s like a party for your tastebuds!

Pro Tips

  1. Pat your chicken thighs dry prior to searing to get a nice crispy skin!
  2. Be sure not to burn the garlic. You can prevent this by stirring constantly and keeping your heat at medium.
  3. While chicken is simmering, be sure to stir every 5-10 minutes to prevent the sauce from sticking to the pan and burning.
  4. I highly recommend using a cast iron skillet for this recipe!
