What is a mango tango?

Not to be confused with the famous youtuber or the kill cliff energy drink, a mango tango cocktail is a refreshing and tropical cocktail that highlights the delicious flavor of mango. It's believed to have originated in Cuba as a mango version of a daiquiri.

There are many variations of the tropical cocktail, but it typically combines mango nectar, pineapple or orange juice, orange liqueur, lime juice, and coconut rum.

Mango Tango Drink Ingredients

ingredients to make a mango tango - mango nectar, triple sec, coconut rum, pineapple juice, and lime juice.

(exact measurements of ingredient list in recipe card)

  • Mango Nectar - mango nectar is the star of the show with this cocktail recipe. Mango nectar is a blend of mango puree and simple syrup. Make sure to use mango nectar NOT mango juice stuff from concentrate.
  • Pineapple Juice - pineapple juice or orange juice work here, just be sure to use a good fruit juice brand like . The citrus flavors really compliment the mango
  • Coconut Rum - I used Malibu, which is a white rum that's combined with the natural flavors coconut liqueur and sugar. It adds coconut flavor and sweetness. If you don't have Malibu, you can use your favorite coconut rum.
  • Triple Sec - it's an orange liqueur that originated in France. You can also use Grand Marnier or Cointreau for more premium options.
  • Lime Juice - to add brightness to the drink.

Variations

  • Blend it up! Use frozen mango chunks and make this into a delicious frozen boozy drink. Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If you don't have frozen mangoes, you can also pour mango nectar into ice cube trays to make mango ice cubes and blend those instead. Isn't it fun to get creative?!
  • Mocktail version! Omit the rum and triple sec, the drink is just as delicious without it!
  • Use fresh mangoes instead of mango nectar. Add fresh mango to a blender with the remainder of the ingredients instead of mango nectar for a fresh take on this refreshing drink.
