Brie is a soft cheese made from cow's milk. It's texture is soft and it tastes like a sharp yet creamy and smooth cheese.
Brie pairs well with different types of jam, nuts, and breads. Also note, the rind is edible so do not remove it!
This baked brie with jam recipe on has 5 ingredients. FIVE! Don't believe me, see below
Creamy Brie Cheese - You can find brie at your local grocery store in the cheese section. They also sell it at Target so it shouldn't be too hard to find! I used an 8 oz wheel for this recipe. If you're making this dish for a crowd, I would suggest using a 16 oz wheel.
Strawberry Jam or Preserves- you can a different type of jam, however, strawberries are in season and I really wanted something fun for summer that could also be enjoyed during the holidays! Fig jam is also delicious with this dish.
Thyme - fresh thyme adds a nice minty earthy flavor to tone down the sweetness of the recipe and really give it balance.
Almonds - for that crunch! Honestly, the melty cheese with the crunchy almonds mixed with the sweetness of the jam is my favorite part. If you don't like almonds, you can use different nuts!
Crackers - I used a mix of crackers and fresh bread (baguette slices) to enjoy this baked brie recipe.
No special equipment needed! Just a cookie sheet or a cast iron skillet / small oven-safe dish.
That's it! No puff pastry or crescent roll dough, no difficulty instructions - just baked brie, some delicious toppings, and a fun appetizer for literally any occasion.
Serve with your favorite crackers, bread, fresh fruit, or even breadsticks! Bon appetit!
Nope! The rind is edible and helps to keep the round structure of the brie. Leave the rind on.
Crackers, fresh fruit, bread, crostinis, a good wine, and pita chips too!
As for wine, I'd recommend Chardonnay or Viognier as a great wine pairing. I also recommend a brut champagne.
Feel free to get creative! You can use raspberry preserves with pistachios and rosemary, you can also do apricot jam with thyme and pecans! With the apricot jam, I love adding a little honey on top too. The possibilities are limitless!
