Mixed Fruit and Nut Energy Bites are a delicious gluten free, and paleo snack full of whole foods that are healthy and nutritious! I made these one day when I had a sweet tooth but no sweets in the house. They were so good, I thought to myself, "Why not share this recipe on the blog?". So, I did! This recipe is probably one of the easy recipes on my blog. You literally combine the ingredients and roll them into a ball. It's so delicious, full of fiber.. and for all of my grain-free/gluten free folks, this recipe is for you! There's no grains in this recipe! Which honestly, I love. It's literally just fruit, nuts, and honey rolled together to make the more delicious snack!

what is an energy bite?

Energy bites are snacks that contain healthy and whole ingredients with a nice amount of fiber, protein, healthy fats, and natural sugars. They are an excellent snack and are quite satiating. I eat energy bites quite often, especially now that I'm super busy at work. These are the quickest little snacks to whip up whether you're at home or on the go. You literally just combine the ingredients, refrigerate them for 30 minutes, and then roll them into bite size energy bites. Super yummy. Very nutritious. and SUPER easy to make.

are energy bites good for you?

Absolutely! Because this recipe is made of all whole ingredients, no added sugars, no fillers or preservatives, it's super healthy. Of course, if you have any allergies or food sensitivities, you can tailor this recipe to your liking. I chose to use mostly dried fruits and nuts because I love the combination. Also, the texture makes these energy bites super fun to eat. The nuts add a nice crunch and the dried fruit and honey make these sweet, but not too sweet. It's like nature's candy.

what is in this recipe?

The first ingredient is almonds! I roughly chopped ¾ cup of almonds together and added them to a bowl. Almonds are really good for you and I love the taste. Almonds have been known to help lower cholesterol, are really good for your skin, and are an excellent source of fiber and protein. They're also a good source of energy... hence the title of energy bites. lol

The second ingredients that I decided to incorporate is pumpkin seeds! Pumpkin seeds are high in antioxidants, good for your hair, full of nutrients, and help protect against several different kinds of diseases. I eat a handful of pumpkin seeds daily. They're not only delicious but clearly super good for you. Pumpkin seeds also aid in controlling blood sugar which gives you steady energy throughout the day.

I incorporated dried fruit into these energy bites too. They're full of fiber and taste SO good! I'm a huge fan of cried cranberries and dried apricots. So, I cut them up and tossed them into the mix as well! There's also honey, almond butter, and a little shredded coconut too. All come together to make a yummy treat!

how do you store these?

So, the energy bites should be stored in the refrigerator. They're OK at room temperature but because they are a no bake recipe, of course, they're best served cold. This is not to say that you can't eat them at room temperature. They do keep well. The honey and almond butter act as a binding agent, but they'll just be softer the warmer they become. Just something to keep in mind.

These energy bites will be good for up to two weeks if stored in an airtight container or zip lock bag in the fridge.

what substitutions can I make in this recipe?

You can use just about any nut or dried fruit combination for this recipe. As long as the portions are the same, you can use whatever you like should another ingredient better suit your palate! Also, if you would like to use another type of nut butter, you can. Peanut butter, cashew butter, coconut butter all work well too. Another substitution that you can make is using maple syrup as opposed to honey. This recipe is super forgiving so feel free to get as creative as you like! Enjoy!

  • ¾ cup Unsalted Almonds, roughly chopped
  • cup Pumpkin Seeds
  • cup Dried Cranberries
  • cup Dried Apricots, sliced
  • cup shredded coconut
  • cup Honey
  • ¾ cup Almond Butter
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Kosher Salt
  • Melted Dark Chocolate, optional


  • Combine all ingredients together and mix. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Scoop 2 tbsps and roll into a ball.
  • Heat dark chocolate as per package instructions. Drizzle on top of energy bites.
