I don’t know about you, but some mornings are just crazy over here! These Cinnamon Roll Overnight Oats are a lifesaver! Whether you are getting kids to school, yourself to work, or just have an early appointment, sometimes breakfast gets put on the back burner. But if you just take 10 minutes the night before, you can have breakfast ready to grab and go!

My other favorite breakfast-on-the-go is to make muffins since I can even keep them in the freezer and thaw a single muffin overnight! Sometimes I like Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins and other days I’m in a Chocolate Chip Muffins kind of mood.

Have you gotten on the overnight oats train yet? I know sometimes it can be a texture issue for some people. I have grown to really like eating these oats cold, especially when I’m adding yogurt and granola on top. The combination of textures is amazing.

And, if you truly aren’t a fan of them cold, you can definitely pop the jar in the microwave just long enough to take the chill off.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe

Super quick! It takes just 10 minutes after dinner and one bowl to whip these up.

Get the kids in on the fun. Let them stir in their favorite seasonings and prepare the topping for morning.

– Full of nutrition! Oats are a whole grain and chia seeds add in fiber, making these overnight oats filling.

Cinnamon Roll Overnight Oats Ingredients

Ingredients to make cinnamon roll overnight oats in small bowls on a white surface.

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

  • Old Fashioned Oats –  Make sure and use old fashioned or rolled oats here for the best texture. They will soak up all the liquid where quick oats will leave you with a soupy mess.
  • Milk – Use whatever type you have on hand, even non-dairy.
  • Yogurt – Stick with plain or vanilla to keep with the cinnamon roll theme.
  • Chia seeds – These little seeds have a very mild flavor and a nice crunch when used on top of food. But when mixed into a liquid as they are here, they soak it up and create a gel of sorts, meaning these oats are creamy and not soupy.
  • Maple syrup – Feel free to adjust this to your liking, depending on if you are using sweetened yogurt or not.

How to make Cinnamon Overnight Oats

– Whisk together everything except the oats and cinnamon.

A wooden spoon mixing up overnight oats in a glass bowl.

– Stir in the oats and cinnamon and cover. Let rest in the fridge at least four hours or overnight.

Pro Tips

  • Stir everything really well to make sure the flavors are split into the two servings evenly.
  • If you’d like, add a nut butter like I did with my almond butter overnight oats.
  • Use just one bowl if you will be serving it all at once at home, no need to dirty anything else!
  • Use jars that have lids if you plan to take the oats on the road.

What to Serve with Overnight Oats

  • Fresh fruit is the perfect pairing with overnight oats! Try cut fruit or berries at home, or grab a banana to go.
  • While I added yogurt, pecans, and granola on top of my serving, you could also serve it on the side if you prefer.

Storing Leftovers

Overnight oats will last for a few days in the fridge, so don’t worry about making them ahead of time. You can always add more milk or yogurt when you enjoy them if they have thickened too much.

Recipe FAQs

Can I make overnight oats dairy-free?

Absolutely! Use whatever yogurt and milk you love and enjoy in this recipe. They are also naturally gluten-free, just make sure and check your oats for cross-contamination with wheat if that’s something you need to watch.

What other spices can I use?

I went simple with just cinnamon to keep with the theme of cinnamon roll. However, feel free to sprinkle in whatever you like such as apple pie blend or a splash of vanilla extract.

What containers should I use?

If you are eating the oats at home, feel free to let them soak in the mixing bowl. If you want them ready to grab in the morning on your way out the door, split it into two jars with lids before popping in the fridge

I swear on my whisk that I am writing this little review with half of my breakfast not yet been devoured. Felt I owe this to you for what you’ve shared! For the first time I have found an overnight oat recipe that has every ratio of oats to liquid to be on the money. The texture is perfection. Thank you Britney, sincerely. I am now about to delve into your site to see if you’ve created other overnight oat recipes. This one is fantastic.
