Avocado Crema is the perfect creamy sauce, made in just 5 minutes with avocado, sour cream, lime juice, garlic, and cilantro. Use this versatile dip to enhance everything from tacos to salads.
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor.
Add the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), fresh lime juice, minced garlic, and cilantro, cumin, and kosher salt.
Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a little more lime juice, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
Taste for salt and add as desired. Blend again briefly to combine.
Notes
Blend until completely smooth. For the best texture, blend the mixture thoroughly, ensuring no chunks of avocado remain.
Taste and season as you go. After blending, taste the crema and adjust the salt or lime juice to suit your preference.
Use Fresh Ingredients!
Make your crema a day in advance for more flavor. This gives the ingredients time to mingle in the fridge so the taste can develop.
SubstitutionsMake It Spicy: For a kick of heat, add diced jalapenos or serrano peppers, chili flakes, or cayenne pepper.Vegan/Dairy Free: Swap the sour cream or Greek yogurt for a vegan yogurt or coconut cream to keep this recipe dairy-free.Swap the Citrus: Once, when I was out of limes, I used fresh lemon juice instead. It works as a great substitute. The taste is slightly different but still tangy and refreshing. How to Serve Avocado CremaThis creamy condiment is such a simple sauce but can be used in so many different ways!
