Tips and Substitutions
-
If you prefer a sweeter tasting sangria, try using a sweet white wine such as Riesling or a dessert wine like Moscato. If it's still not sweet enough, add simple syrup or maple syrup.
- Can't find ginger beer, you can use ginger ale instead. You can also use club soda but keep in mind you won't get that kick of spicy ginger flavor.
- Feel free to experiment with a variety of fruits. You can use fresh fruit or canned fruit for this recipe (don't you just love versatility?) As the fruit soaks, it absorbs the alcohol, turning them into boozy fruit that are so delicious!
- Let the sangria sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes prior to serving! Optimal time would be 4 hours up to overnight. The longer it sits, the more time the flavors of the fruit are released into the wine.
