- 2 tbsps garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 ½ tbsps chili powder
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
Tips
- Thicken it up! Add a bit of cornstarch to this seasoning mix if you'd like to thicken up the sauce in the pan. About 1 tbsp should do the job.
- This recipe makes about 10 tablespoons of taco seasoning which is the equivalent of three packets of store bought taco seasoning. Use about 2 tablespoons of seasoning pound of chicken. You can use ground chicken, boneless skinless chicken breasts, or even boneless skinless chicken thighs.
- To enhance the flavor of this seasoning, add a little tomato sauce or ro-tel to the pan when cooking the meat. Taco seasoning typically has tomato powder in it so adding about a ½ cup of tomato sauce really gives it a beautiful authentic flavor.
