frequently asked questions
Most Frequently asked questions: what type of camera do you use?
This is my most frequently asked questions! I started out with a Canon Rebel t6i, which I adored! The price was excellent, it's a camera that's easy to learn and understand photography on, and it's also easy to use. The Canon Rebel t6i is lightweight too which is nice when photographing for hours! Believe me, your arms get tired after a while! Also, it provides a wide range of bells and whistles, especially at the price point.
Recently, I upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark IV. To say that this camera is amazing is an understatement. It's a lot like the Rebel t6i, just far more powerful and precise with A LOT of bells and whistles. I also use the nifty fifty lens (50mm) to shoot the majority of my photos. Everyday I learn something new about this camera because it does so much!
My Husband gave me my Canon Rebel t6i for our first wedding anniversary. So, it will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart! I credit him for getting me started in photography because previously I was using my phone!
what do you use to edit your photos?
This is also another one of the most frequently asked questions that I receive almost daily! I use Lightroom to edit my photos. When I first started in photography, I used presets but have since moved away from doing so. This is not to say that presets are good or bad, but I have just decided to teach myself how to edit. I didn't like relying on presets to do the work for me. In order to understand the editing process, I wanted to learn the ins and out of every feature (I'm still learning). They're a nice way to keep your photos uniform, but because I use natural light for my photos, I like to edit them freely so that each photo can be tailored to the type of lighting that's captured in every shot. (different angles can yield different colors in each photo)
another popular frequently asked questions: how did you get into blogging?
I started blogging on a whim in October 2019. I was literally sitting down on my couch. We had just moved and I had just rearranged everything in the apartment and was probably bored. (I have to constantly be doing something with my hands and using my creativity) I had been making dinner on Instagram stories on my personal account and SO many people kept asking me for my recipes and saying how good the food looked. So, I made a separate instagram account, Britney Breaks Bread. A day or two after that I made a wordpress account and started logging recipes there. It has been an amazing journey to say the least!
where are you from?
Another one of the most frequently asked questions that I receive! I'm from Philadelphia, PA! Philly Philly! Philly is where I am from! lol However, my Husband and I currently reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. I don't know if this is our forever place, but for now, we really love it here!
what is your favorite food?
Unquestionably, Burgers. I could eat a burger every single day of my life and never get sick of it. To me, Burgers are the perfect food. And I'm not talking about those fancy burgers. I'm talking about a classic burger with lettuce, tomato, a slice of quality cheddar cheese, ketchup and mayo. Of course with a quality burger patty too, but I feel like that goes without saying. lol I don't eat them very often at all, but it is without a doubt my favorite thing to eat. It's always such a treat! (frequently asked questions of the century)
where do you get your inspiration for your recipes?
My everyday life! I had this conversation with my friend Becky on her podcast "The Storied Recipe" (click to listen to the episode). I've travelled a lot (pre-COVID) and I often draw the inspiration from my experiences, domestically and internationally, for the flavor profiles that I use in my recipes. Also, to answer plainly, sometimes there is no true "inspiration" behind a recipe. Sometimes, I'm simply relaxing and crave something and see how it comes out. A lot of recipe development is trial and error and having fun in the kitchen!
what's your most popular recipe?
As of today, there are 5 recipes that have been competing for the top spot! These metrics fluctuate daily but as of today, it's my Honey Za'atar Chicken with Chickpeas, Honey Oat Bread, 20-Minute Summery Cajun Orzo with Kielbasa, Vegan Bourbon Apple Skillet Cake with Chai Drizzle, and Healthy Orange Sesame Chicken!

what's your favorite recipe that's on your blog?
Without question, my recipe for Peanut Curry Braised Ribs! I made these ribs right around Christmas and took them to my family's Christmas dinner. They were SO good. My family immediately inhaled these ribs so much that my Dad went out and bought another slab for me to make again the next day. They're seasoned with ginger, garlic and onion powder, a little cinnamon (trust me, it's delicious) and then topped with a peanut curry sauce... You HAVE to try this recipe. I also garnished the ribs with chopped mint leaves and crushed peanuts and red pepper. It's just amazing. These Peanut Curry Braised Ribs is one of those recipes that once you make it, you'll be making it again and again. It's super easy and beyond delicious. I cannot recommend this recipe enough!
