Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies

Orange chocolate chip cookies is a fun take on the traditional chocolate chip cookie! This recipe gives you a citrus, chocolatey and cakey cookie!

Recently, I have been obsessed with Levain Bakery's massive doughy cookies. They look SO good and are constantly popping up in my explore feed on Instagram. I sought out to recreate these cookies and while I've never had the actual cookie from the bakery, I will say that I mine came out pretty darn good. They're soft and pillowy on the inside and full of chocolate chips and they have a beautiful crust that adds a buttery crunch that's to die for!

What's funny is that I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate, but I do enjoy orange brownies. (I'm weird, I know) So, I added the orange flavor to this recipe because the texture of these cookies are more akin to a fudgy brownie than a cookie! Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think!

Ingredients

• 3 cups all-purpose flour

• 4 tbsps cornstarch

• 2 tsp baking powder

• ½ tsp baking soda

• ½ tsp kosher salt

• 2 sticks butter, room temperature

• 2 tbsps orange zest
  

• 1 ½ cups white sugar

• 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

• 2 eggs

• 1 tsp orange extract

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

• In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
• In a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, add two sticks of room temperature butter and orange zest and beat on medium low speed for 1 minute, until butter is creamy and fluffy. Then add sugar.
• Add flour mixture to the stand mixer. Mix for about 10 seconds. Add eggs, orange extract, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips. Mix until fully incorporated, about 20-30 seconds. Do not over mix. Stop mixing when you grab the dough and the dough sticks together.
• Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Measure out 8 4-5 oz cookies and roll them into a flat ball. Place in the freezer for 3 hours.
• Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Bake cookies for 15 minutes. Allow them to cook for 30 minutes.
• Eat!
