Clementine and Lemon Brownies are the brownies you need in your life. ASAP. It's ctirus season and I STILL have a bunch of clementines leftover from new years. I made so many delicious drinks with the clementines from my New Year's Party and needed something to do with them. So, I made these brownies. I'm on the last bunch and didn't want to throw them away and decided to make something of them.
I juiced the clementines and added a lemon. Then, I noticed that I had some special dark cocoa powder - so, naturally, brownies. I have seen orange brownies before but never clementine, let alone clementine and lemon. So this was fun and cool to experiment with and see how the flavors came together. Not to mention, these brownies were super gooey and as someone who is not the biggest chocolate person (I know, I'm crazy), I really enjoyed these. so. freaking. good.
CLEMENTINE AND LEMON BROWNIES

So, I feel like I always have some sort o story regarding my recipes. With this recipe, I made them and ended up having to pack them in ziplock baggys because I didn't want to eat too many. (I love a gooey brownies, the texture of these is insane - I mean look at the pics!) Anyway, I packed up the brownies and gave them to my Hubby to take them into his job. Side note, whenever I have leftovers, I either give them to my neighbor or to my husband to take to his teammates or co-workers.
Anyway, he took the brownies into his job and his co-workers ate them ALL and asked me to make them again. lol In fact, they even asked me to make them for their kids birthday too!
TO SAY THAT THESE BROWNIES ARE A CROWD PLEASER IN AN UNDERSTATEMENT!

WHAT MAKES THESE CLEMENTINE AND LEMON BROWNIES SO FUDGY?
Okay, so I toyed around with a few iterations of this recipe prior to perfecting it. What makes these so fudgy and gooey is the amount of chocolate vs the amount of butter vs the amount of butter and sugar! Also, the amount of eggs used give this recipe a crackled topping! I also added olive oil to these brownies and that helps keep them moist and tender! Even when they're a couple days old, they're still super soft and fudgy and delicious! Honestly, I prefer these the next day because the flavors have set together and are just so yummy. When I tell you these are the perfect brownies, I'm not joking!

IS THIS AN EASY RECIPE?
Yes! This doesn't require much. Once you assemble the ingredients, all you have to do is mix the wet ingredients. Then, in a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients. Combine the two together and bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes. CRITICAL STEP! Make sure you allow these brownies to cool completely and allow them to set! If you don't allow them to set, they will fall apart like a lava cake. If that's what you like, then go for it!
But as far as being easy?! It's super easy. No fancy techniques, no special tips or tricks. Just mix well, bake, and then allow them to cool. Once they've cooled completely, you can heat them bake up in the microwave for 10 seconds if you want a warm brownie. However, please allow them to cool and set before doing so.

CAN I EAT THESE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE OVEN?
Can you? Yes! Should you? Nope! As mentioned above, please be sure to let these brownies cool completely and set! It takes about an hour! It's SO worth it. Because the fat content in these brownies, these brownies are super soft. Also, these contain cornstarch which ensures a beautifully soft brownie that's dense and chocolately and everything you love about brownies!
